Literature, Social Justice, and Community Services

The Pen-City Writers is a three-year, creative-writing certificate program for men incarcerated at a maximum security prison in southern Texas. The incarcerated students earn UT college credit, publish their own journal, have their own library, and are learning to be writers and thinkers behind bars.

Living Learning Community (LLC) in Kinsolving. WiSTEM has a long history and tradition of successfully serving students in their first year of living on campus.

Middle School Shadow a Scientist

This summer program pairs a group of two Middle School students with a Research Scientist at the University of Texas for a two hour tour of the scientist‚ lab and experiments in progress. (6-8 students)

Peers for Pr!de

Peers for Pride (PfP) is a peer facilitation program of the Gender and Sexuality Center. The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) is to provide opportunities for all members of the UT Austin community to explore, organize, and promote learning around issues of gender and sexuality. The center also facilitates a greater responsiveness to the needs of women and the LGBTQIA+ communities through education, outreach, and advocacy.

WEatUT and CREATEatUT summer camps

Women in STEM (WiSTEM) summer camps and academies provide high school students with the opportunity to explore STEM career paths, gain hands-on STEM experiences, connect with STEM role models, and experience an interactive overview of STEM majors offered at UT Austin. (9-12 students)
